For this border effect I used the flexible brush tutorial to create that brushed on effect. After I got it how I wanted it to look I added a rectangle box and put a stroke on it. I wanted the colors to match and tried to get it as close as I could. I thought it turned out well.

One Scan

This is my one scan image. I layered a bunch of my jewelry on the scanner and left the lid open. I turned off the lights so was able to get the black background. I liked how the scanner made little shine marks on a couple of pieces of jewelry. I boosted the contrast a little in camera raw.

Blend

For this blend I use an overlay blending mode to combine the little rocks and big rocks. Because I used a plastic covering over the scanner so I wouldn't scratch the scanner, I boosted the contrast and warmed up the temperature in camera raw. By boosted the contrast, I kind of got rid of that plastic glare.
For the flowers I used the quick selection tool in Photoshop to select the flowers. I just drug the flowers over on top of my rocks. I thought it turned out nice.

I liked this assignment. It was very cool. For the first picture there wasn't any edits done. I just inserted it into my template and used a clipping mask to insert it in. For the second picture I did a little levels, contrast, boosted the vibrance and clarity. I shortened my rectangles because I wanted to see what it looked like and I thought it turned out nice.

Photolusion Straight

I guess I was in cloud mood when I took these picture.

For my Photolusion Edited shot I wanted the clouds to look like they were spelling a word. I chose the word LOVE because I had a sign that said that but.... yeah. I cut out the word love and then drug it over to my cloud picture. I used the clone stamp to erase the part of the cloud where I wanted love to read.

For my Photolusion Straight shot, I thought that this wispy cloud kind of looked like mist. So I wanted the cloud to look like mist coming out of my perfume bottle. It wasn't a perfect cloud but I thought it turned out ok. I didn't do any edits to this picture besides a little levels.

The picture of the cellar is unedited, I just decided to do an edge effect to it.

I took my sister-in-laws family pictures and I thought it would fun to do a couple of edge effects to these picture. Because the background of the pictures were white, I put black in the background.

The light painting were really fun to do. I went and bought some glow sticks (bracelets), which gave them that circular feel. The first one I just threw them in the air and let them fall down and the second one I was actually holding them and swirling them around.

For the first outside picture, I did a 30 second exposure and just thought the last of the sunset was hitting the front of this cellar really neat. The second one I turned on my car lights for about half of the exposure which gave it that glow.

This was a challenging assignment because while some days were easy to find something cool to shoot, others were a challenge. I didn't mean to do two flower pictures but I thought both of them turned out well and I just love all of the blossoms on the trees.
For the first shot I did a vintage type effect to give it that coloring effect. For the car picture I bootsted the colors, contrast, etc to give it more vibrance.
The blossom picture, I just added some sats, levels. For the flag picture I used the exposure tool in camera raw to make the glowing effect around the edges of the flag. For the windmill I just used a small f stop to get that kind of silhouette look but you can still see details on the windmill. I really loved the old tractor but I didn't want to do a lot of editing so I just did levels and boosted the sats. For the picture of my husband I only did levels and then just touched up his skin a little.

You can't really tell on blogger (very much) but I thought the Match Color trick worked really well even with a completely different picture entirely. I had never used this tool before so I had to mess around with the sliders but I thought it warmed up the picture nicely.

For this picture of my brother I evened out his skin, enhanced his eyes (realistically), and whitened his teeth (just a tad). We were camping so his hair wasn't done but I still thought the picture looked nice. I also added a vignette and boosted the contrast in camera raw.

For this picture I wanted to make their clothes match a little bit better. They were all wearing yellow but Oscar's shirt was a little too bright so I changed the color of yellow it was and Chalee's shirt under her jacket was clashing a little (as well as the writing on her jacket so I changed it to blue to match oscar's overalls. I thought the results turned out well.

My brother is the outdoors hunting fishing type of guy so I chose to photograph him in his "element" or "environment." We went camping to Birch Creek this weekend and went on a long four-wheeling ride. We got to the top of this mountain and it over looked the valley so I made him pause for a photo-op. I did a vintage effect to this picture as well.

I took my cousin Kabe's senior pictures. For some reason I like it when guys don't smile in pictures. I don't know why. I thought the color of his shirt and the lighting really brought out his eyes. I only added a little levels and contrast to this picture.

I loved the colors of this cabinet and thought the colors complemented each other really well. I took it into HDR and boosted it. I thought it looked really cool.

I put the necklace I was wearing (which was my grandmothers necklace so it has a nice old vintage look). I put it on the window seal thought the lighting looked really cool. I took it into HDR and did some color matching and increased the dramatic light strengh.

I love the texture of the old truck. The colors were awesome and the rust and scratch looking marks made it even better. I just did a simple blend with these two photos by using an overlay blending mode and using a mask to mask out a couple of spots on the picture.

For the picture of James, James stood in the dark closet with the door closed. About half way through the exposure he swung the door open fast and it shut again, which gives us this ghostlike appearance in the wall.

For the picture of Josh, he was jumping high from the top step of the hotel. Its important to have a fast shutter speed in order to stop the motion of the jump.

On both of these pictures I did some levels and colors adjustments and a vignette on the jumping picture.

I loved the look of this old toliet with the completmentary colors of red and green. The lighting looked really cool. I just did minor color and level adjustments to both of these photos.

I just happened to go over there where they were taking a picture of Jamie and I thought the background was amazing. I did a vintage photoshop effect for this photo (what my tutorial is on) and I thought it worked well for this photo.

I used window lighting for the picture of Seth. Because my ISO was high, it turned out a little grainy but I still liked the way it looked.

Laura is so cute and fun and I loved the color of this blue door. I did a little bit of color effects to bring out the blue and the color of her shirt.

Panoramic

The first picture was obviously taken into HDR as you can see by the stripe across it but I just wanted to try and see what it would look like. I thought it turned out pretty cool. The sky really pops and the colors are very vibrant. I had never done a panoramic image before this so I thought it was pretty amazing how smart Photoshop was.

I was driving along the road past WalMart and decided to just keep driving up towards St. Anthony. Along that same road I found this neat old shack with a really cool tree next to it. I took this over a fence (it was on someone's property) but I still thought it turned out nice.

This is my cute nephew. I opened up this jpg in Camera Raw and made some adjustments to it. When I took this picture, I forgot to adjust my white balance to account for the shade and so the color was blue. I adjusted the temperature, exposure, added some contrast and vibrance to this shot. For some reason the changes look very subtle online but I thought that the changes gave the photo a nice look.

For the picture of Piper that I took this weekend I thought that it looked a little blown out so I used adjustment layers to fix it. I first used a level adjustment layer to darken the background a little and then used the brush tool to bring Piper back to normal color. She also has a little jaundice (only 3 days old) so I used a selective color adjustment layer to take some of the red and orange out of the picture.

For the picture of McCall, I just wanted to make it really vibrant. I did a watercolor smart filter and then erased the filter off of her face and most of her hair and shirt. I also did a levels adjustment layer on this picture except for I changed it from RGB channel to the red and green channel and adjusted the levels from there. That is what gives this picture a yellowish bluish tone.

I was able to go to the zoo this weekend to get my pictures. It was a good excuse for my husband to take me on a date. However, we were only able to go in the afternoon when the sun was high so I had to make the best of the lighting situation.

I love lions, however this one was pretty lethargic. So I watched him awhile and I thought the way his neck was stretched out made him look powerful and strong.

I think Emu's are kind of goofy looking and I thought that this picture portrayed how I think of emu's. Weird looking. I waited until he looked at me to capture this picture and used a shallow depth of field to get the boca.

I thought the color of these flowers was beautiful. I got down low so I could get a nice perspective of the flowers. I wanted the flower in the front right to be the main focus so I tried to compose the picture so your eye would go there first. All of these pictures have a little levels added and the flower has a slight vignette around the edges.

This squirrel picture was a happy accident. I was doing a photoshoot and this little guy just happened to look right at me. He moved fast... but I was able to get this shot of him. I really liked the original picture but thought it would look neat with a couple of textured shots blended in. I did the overlay blending mode on both the sky and wall and then also did a layer mask to mask out parts that didn't look good.

I used quite a few pictures to finally get an effect that I liked. I used the overlay blending mode on the bark, a soft light blending mode on the rocks, and a hard light blending mode on the brick. I used layer masks on all of the layers except for the rocks in order to erase part of the picture I didn't want to show and reveal other layers I did want to show.
For the text I used an overlay blending mode and really like how it looks.

I love the color blue. Especially a bright blue (hence my nikes). This was a fun assignment because it really helped my open my eyes to all of the different colors around me. All images have a little level adjustment and the house and the bus have a little vignette around it. I used aperture priority on the nike, bus, and house pictures getting a shallow depth of field for the first two and a deeper depth of field for the house.
P.S. can't you tell how much my husband loves to be my model? :) (Actually... I told him to make that face)

The first picture I took on a really windy cold day in Rexburg. Her nose was a little red so by using some coloring techniques it took out that color and gave it a nice effect.The baby feet picture was taken in a studio. I had the idea in my head but it took awhile to get the photo I wanted because he kept wiggling around his toes and the rings kept falling off. The 3rd photo (with the flowers and the couple) was also taken on a windy freezing day in Rexburg. We took quite a few but I thought this one turned out nice with the wind blowing her hair. My favorite part about this picture is the depth of field. On my way home from Nauvoo I came across this turtle. Being from Shelley, Idaho I don't see things like this very often so I had to stop and take a picture. It was evening and I thought the lighting turned out well on the turtle's face. The boating picture was taken at Anderson Ranch in Boise. My sister was being crazy and so I was glad I captured her ponytail up in the air and a big smile on her face. It was mid afternoon so although the lighting was bad I thought it turned out nice.
